Negrón Pizarro is an artist initiative and curatorial program that reflects on the gallery and cultural institutional strategies as an artistic medium for place-making, urban development, and situationism. Abbreviated to ‘NP01’, it functions as a contemporary art gallery; research + studio facility. Committed to a discourse that widens the lens of history, contemporaneity, and the future of art.
It focuses on developing an inter-generational and cross-post disciplinary program that brings together an array of thinkers and practitioners. Placing contemporary art and culture in dialogue with multiple fields of knowledge and perspectives. Dedicated to supporting and promoting cultural practices and intellectual exchange. Our work is channeled through three main programs: Curatorial (Writing/Research), Artist Residency, and our art collection.
We depart from such statements conceived as an organization by and for artists, and take action in responding to be a conscious place for considering situationism, psychogeography, and super studio practice within the N, S, E, W and in the Carribean archipelago. We claim an introspection within the permanent crisis of disaster/accelerated capitalism as well as disinvestment for culture, sustainability and public education in Puerto Rico.

All within the dynamics of Art, and exhibition design as a truly alternative critical practice. Running parallel with other attempts that highlight contemporary art as a barometer of our times. NP01 traces and drafts structure based on eye-opening appraisals of other trailblazers who have paved a path for such things to occur and stay on track no matter what life throws at you.
